Torqeedo is the new muscle behind the fleet of passenger boats making their way down the iconic River Walk in San Antonio, Texas.
Launched in October, the new fleet of 43 custom boats is powered by an all-Torqeedo electric propulsion system. Each 27-foot barge is backed by a Torqeedo Cruise 10.0 electric outboard engine and 16 Power 26-104 Lithium Batteries.
Sustainability and care for the environment were a top priority for the new fleet," said John Jacks, City of San Antonio Center City Development and Operations Director. "These new boats give passengers a unique experience, cruising smoothly and quietly through the San Antonio River, consuming no fuel and keeping our air clean."
The Torqeedo Cruise 10.0 electric outboard features a whopping 315 lbs of static thrust with the power to match a standard 25 hp outboard. Depending on the boat size, you can expect an average run-time over 8 hours, and a range of up to 40 miles at low speed, or around 50 minutes and 15.5 miles at full throttle.
The San Antonio River Walk is one of the city's most prominent attractions, featuring 15 miles of sights, shops, restaurants, theaters, parks, and museums.
