How to Become a Fishing Guide in Connecticut
Individuals providing fishing or hunting guide services in Connecticut are required to have a Hunting and Fishing Guide Registration. All guides register annually with the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, or DEEP. Hunting and fishing guides carrying paying passengers on a vessel on marine waters or any of the rivers of Connecticut, is required to hold a current passenger-for-hire license issued by the United States Coast Guard.
Requirements for a Connecticut Fishing Guide License
- Create a Connecticut Conservation ID on the www.ct.wildlifelicense.com Web site
- Fill out a form online or at participating town clerks, sporting goods stores, or at any DEEP office
- Registration is valid for one calendar year
- Registration fee: $100
Application Submission
Submit applicatoins online at the DEEP Web site, in person at any DEEP office, or participating outlet. Online applications require payment using a Visa or Mastercard. Â
