How to Become a Fishing Guide in Idaho

Fishing guides need to register with the State of Idaho Outfitters and Guides Licensing Board. There are different licenses for outfitter sole proprietor, corporation, designated agent, and new guide. There are also different payments for new guide license and renewal of license.

Requirements for Getting a Fishing Guide License in Idaho

  • Sign up and create a profile on the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Licensing Board Web site.
  • Fill out the form
  • Pay the fees. Payment option includes Visa, Discover, American Express, and Mastercard. Do not provide any credit card number in writing. Call the Idaho Guide and Licensing Board office at (208) 327-7380 with your credit card information.
  • Provide your email on the application form, to receive your guide license.

Fees

  • First-time outfitter: $400
  • First-time designated agent: $50
  • First-time guide: $20
